Heat exchangers at tube bundle

The know-how and the experience allow Pisano Engineering to position itself as an important player in the thermodynamic and mechanical design up to the realization of shell and tube heat exchangers in its workshops.

Tube Beam Exchangers for Process Industry

Pisano Engineering has been designing and building shell and tube heat exchangers for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and oil & gas industries for years. Our experience in the construction of pressure equipment, allows us to build efficient thermal solutions that comply with the PED Directive 2014/68/EU, ensuring maximum heat exchange performance and operational reliability.

What is a Tube Beam Exchanger

Basically, the shell and tube heat exchanger is an industrial apparatus apt for the efficient transfer of heat between two fluids at different temperatures, but avoiding direct contact between the two fluids. The design consists of a bundle of tubes contained within a cylindrical shell, in which one fluid flows inside the tubes while the other fluid circulates in the shell side, around the tubes.

This technology is the perfect solution for applications that require:

  • High operating pressures (up to 300 bar)
  • Extreme temperatures (-196°C to +600°C)
  • Large exchange areas (1 to 5000 m²)
  • Corrosive or high-viscosity fluids

Types of Exchangers
tube bundle

Fixed Head Exchangers (BEM)

BEM exchangers with fixed tube bundles are ideal for applications with low temperature differences between fluids. The bundle is welded directly to the shell, ensuring

  • Maximum sealing for hazardous fluids
  • Low construction costs
  • Ease of pipe-side cleaning
  • Applications: oil cooling, process water heating
Floating Head Exchangers
Equipped with a moving head that compensates for differential thermal expansion, these exchangers offer:
  • Elimination of thermal stresses
  • Fully removable tube bundle
  • Simplified maintenance
  • Applications: steam condensers, distillation column reboilers

U-shaped exchangers (BEU)

With U-shaped bent tubes, this configuration allows:
Specialized types:
  • Mixing tanks: with agitators and baffles
  • Dissolution tanks: for solution preparation
  • Buffer tanks: for balancing flow rates
  • Settling tanks: with separation systems
  • Condensate collection tanks: with automatic drains
Process accessories:
  • Side or vertical agitators
  • Heating/cooling serpentines
  • CIP washing systems
  • In-line samplers

Tanks for Food and Pharmaceutical Industry

OUR EXPERIENCE

Know how and expertise allow Pisano Engineering to position itself as an important player in thermodynamic and mechanical design up to the realization at its workshops the shell and tube heat exchangers

The heat exchanger is the chemical process equipment that allows the exchange of heat between two fluids that may be in equicurrent or countercurrent.

The sizing of a heat exchanger aims to define the appropriate heat exchange surface area, and related materials, in order to optimize the heat exchange process, resulting in cost savings.

The appropriate choice of exchange surfaces as well as materials affect the cost of construction, installation, operation and finally maintenance.

Through dedicated software, our company is able to carry out THERMAL and MECHANICAL DESIGN of heat exchange equipment.
